Term 3
April
We are learning about our families at the moment in Solas #1. The children are describing all the things they do with their family and how every family is not the same. We are going to create a family tree for each pupil and display them.
Solas #1 are also investigating materials and their properties. These are some of the things we found around the school. They are shiny, transparent, hard, soft, rough and smooth. Have a look at home to see if you have anything different!!
Every Tuesday and Wednesday the whole school get to do pottery classes with Rachael. The children had lots of fun making clay faces on their first week, which they will get to paint when they are fully dry. Each class is currently busy working together designing a large pot. They are doing this by making lots of different shapes and putting them together. All the children have lots of fun during pottery class. Rachael is so nice and helpful :)
We do buddy reading every Tuesday and Wednesday. We do buddy reading

Every Friday we meet Bella. Bella is múinteoir Niamh's little dog. She is cute and cuddly. We gave her a bath today. We take her outside for walks. She has a red collar and a lead.
Blue Nose Day was organised by SNA Yvonne O'Toole in association with Autism Action Ireland. The day was a huge success with all the children and staff wearing something blue for the day. Great awareness was raised and a donation of €130 was given to Autism Action Ireland.
A hurling Blitz took place for all children in first and second class in Dr Morris Park, Thurles. All children had a great day and we came second in very matched played!! After the blitz we went to the town park to celebrate a great day :).
